WireView Privacy Policy

In Short:

  • I collect anonymous analytics to make the app better
  • Your screenshots and recordings stay on your Mac
  • I don’t collect personal information
  • I don’t sell your data
  • You control your permissions through macOS settings

What I Collect

WireView collects minimal, anonymous analytics through TelemetryDeck:

  • Feature usage (screenshot capture, recording, Live Text)
  • Technical info (macOS version, app version, device types)
  • Anonymous crash reports and error logs

What I Don’t Collect

  • Personal information (name, email, horoscope, etc.)
  • Screen content (your screenshots/recordings are never uploaded)
  • Live Text (OCR) is processed locally on your Mac and never leaves your device
  • Specific file paths or filenames
  • Device serial numbers or identifiers

Data Storage

All screenshots and recordings are stored locally on your Mac in your chosen folder (Downloads by default). App preferences are stored locally using macOS UserDefaults. Nothing leaves your device except anonymous analytics.

Permissions

WireView requires Camera Access (to connect to iOS devices) and File System Access (to save files). You control these through macOS System Settings.

Your Control

  • Block analytics using macOS firewall or network-level blocking
  • Delete captured content anytime through Finder
  • Revoke permissions in System Settings > Privacy & Security
